This is a great short video on planting fruit trees. When I left my old farm in February, I Ieft behind 10 fruit trees that were 2-4 years old and just beginning to offer a crop each year. I plan to start a small orchard at the new place this winter. So far, the plan is to choose an early, mid and late-season variety of 4-6 fruits.

A must have on the list are apples (for Jacob) apricots and pears (for me) and probably peaches and plums. Also included on the must have list are pistachios and olives. Varieties of each haven’t been chosen yet. I’ll do that one of these rainy days when I can’t work outside.

Another planting I’m pondering are berries. I’d love to be able to include more fruit in the CSA bags, so I’ll be putting in berry bushes (probably raspberry or blackberry), some strawberries and most likely a few table grape vines.

Anyway, enjoy this video on planting and caring for your fruit trees!
