Juciest Roasted Chicken
Super easy and delicious whole chicken recipe
Ingredients
- 1 4-5 lb Whole Chicken
- 1 tsp sea salt
- freshly ground black pepper
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Remove chicken from package and place it in you dutch oven (or heavy pot with a lid).

Sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over the chicken. Add any additional flavorings that you like. (Garlic, lemon, and rosemary are personal favorites)

Place the lid on the pot and put it in the preheated oven for 60 min

After 60 min, check the temperature with a meat thermometer in a few different places. The breast meat is usually the last to get to temp. You will most likely need 15-30 min of additional baking to get to 165 degrees, the minimum safe cooking time for poultry.

Remove the lid and return to the oven. Once the chicken has come to temp, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes

Save the carcass for bone broth!
Recipe Notes
Don't worry about overcooking the chicken. This recipe is very forgiving and the chicken will remain juicy at higher temperatures.
